Van Adventure - 2026 KOFA National Wildlife: February 3-6
Join us for a roll through KOFA - the King OF Arizona! That’s the acronym given to the town nearby the King of Arizona mine purchased by Colonel Eugene Ives in the late 1800’s. The wildlife refuge was created in 1939 to protect desert bighorn sheep and encompasses over 650,000 acres. It’s located in southwest Arizona near Yuma and surrounded by the Yuma Test Range.
This four day, three night journey visits historic mines, cabins and structures along rough and rocky roads on a curated route with pre-selected camping locations. Towering pinnacles and sharp jagged mountains with cholla cactus, ocotillo, and saguaro surround us every day. We’ll cook three special dinners and provide coffee each morning.
Our south to north route features a long and challenging day three - with wash outs, shelf roads, and a large rock filled river bed - and is for experienced drivers.. Conditions change every year from annual rainfall and this means there is always the possibility trails could be more difficult or impassible. With this in mind, we are trying out a new sign up system for this trip by having a personal conversation with each potential driver to set expectations. Confirmed guests are sent a link to complete payment and secure their spot.
This trip will feature a very small group of 6 vehicles! Oversize wheels/tires and 4×4 or AWD with a rear locker is REQUIRED. Additional gear requirements can be found on guest intake form when you Add to Cart.
