Traversing rolling oak savannahs, sweeping desert grasslands, and high-desert canyon corridors, this expedition offers world-class gravel riding paired with full-service field logistics.

Day 2: Las Cienegas âž” San Rafael Valley âž” Patagonia (~48 Miles)
Day 3: Patagonia Mountains & Borderlands Loop (~44 Miles)
Day 4: Patagonia âž” Box Canyon Pass âž” Santa Rita Foothills (~42 Miles)
Day 5: Madera Canyon Descent âž” Mission San Xavier âž” Tucson (~28 Miles)
Day-by-Day Expedition Itinerary
Day 1: Tucson Pick-up & The Rolling Savannahs of Las Cienegas
Distance: ~32 miles | Elevation Gain: +1,800 ft
Morning: Pickup in Tucson and scenic transfer south toward the Empire Ranch Historic Zone. Bike setup, safety briefing, and gear check.
The Ride: Roll out across the vast, high-altitude desert grasslands of Las Cienegas National Conservation Area on fast-rolling dirt roads. Ride past century-old cattle ranches framed by the distant Whetstone Mountains.
Camp & Evening: Arrive at our established camp near Gardner Canyon. Relax by the campfire as the guide crew prepares a gourmet high-protein dinner.
Day 2: San Rafael Valley Expanse & Patagonia
Distance: ~48 miles | Elevation Gain: +2,900 ft
Morning: Early breakfast and hot coffee. Ride south toward the breathtaking, wide-open San Rafael Valley.
The Ride: Experience one of the most iconic gravel corridors in the West. Ride along smooth dirt tracks through endless golden grasslands running along the U.S.–Mexico borderlands, passing historic ghost-town remnants at Lochiel.
Afternoon: Descend into the eclectic gravel-cycling hub of Patagonia, AZ. Enjoy a local craft beverage at the Patagonia Lumber Company before rolling into our creekside camp.
Day 3: The Patagonia Mountains & Harshaw Creek Loop
Distance: ~44 miles | Elevation Gain: +3,800 ft
Morning: A challenging, high-reward day in the Sky Island pine-oak forests.
The Ride: Climb Harshaw Creek Road into the shade of sycamores and cottonwoods, ascending into the rugged Patagonia Mountains. Navigate winding mining roads and fast doubletrack with expansive views back across the Santa Cruz River Valley.
Camp & Evening: Full camp service in Patagonia with a hearty, chef-prepared dinner, ice-cold drinks, and stargazing under crisp high-desert skies.
Day 4: Box Canyon Pass & Santa Rita Mountain Transition
Distance: ~42 miles | Elevation Gain: +3,100 ft
Morning: Depart camp heading north toward the towering Santa Rita Mountain Range.
The Ride: Tackle the climb up Box Canyon Pass, a dramatic geological transition where high mountain oak woodland drops into low Sonoran desert scrub dotted with giant Saguaro cacti.
Camp & Evening: Set up camp at the western base of Mount Wrightson. Enjoy an evening around the campfire with panoramic sunset vistas over the Santa Cruz Valley.
Day 5: Santa Cruz River Corridor & Tucson Return
Distance: ~28 miles | Elevation Gain: +900 ft
Morning: Final sunrise camp breakfast and pack up.
The Ride: Ride along mixed gravel paths and historic corridors along the Juan Bautista de Anza Trail heading north toward Tucson.
Afternoon: Finish the ride at the historic Mission San Xavier del Bac. Enjoy a celebratory farewell lunch provided by the team before shuttle drop-offs in Tucson.
